Nitin Gupta …. Rover (where it all started)
It’s in the genes they say ….
Now how did the Travellers bug hit me
Like I said, I am from a defence background. We were rovers/nomands, shifting base every 2-3 years and at times 2 times a year. The fact that my education of 18 years was spread across more than 10 cities should be a good enough indicator. There are benefits, you make explore new places and never get bored of the same place. On the other hand you can’t have the so called “langotia [nappy] friends” and have to make new friends and studies take a hit. Even excelling in sports becomes diffcult even though you might be good at badminton or cricket like me.
I started travelling early in life. Ok the places I have seen nned not be in same sequence are [with surrounding areas ner these cities]….
Meerut, Jhalandhar, Chandigarh, Shimla, Leh, Laddhak, Kargil, Kashmir, Jammu, Chail, Kullu, Mussorie, Daman, Dui, Mumbai, Kashid, Mt Abu, Indore, Mou, Ahmedabad, Gwalior, Lucknow, Shahjahanpur, Binnaguri [Siliguri], Darjleeng, Yercaud. Pondicherry, Coorg, Mysore, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Baroda, Pune, Dehradoon, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Agra, Roorke, Nanital, Haldwani, Mathura, Allahabad, Gurgaon, Bhutan, Burma, Nepal, Dubai, SriLanka, Malyasia, Singapore..the list goes on….I can think of many other cities as I go on…
Not only I have travelled these places, but have done most of these either by car or train. so have seen most of the roads and other places of interest on the way. Now having travelled so much in already in my life, obviously I have travelled a lot of North, East, West and middle.
I love travelling, adveture sports, trekking, sight seeing and long drives…well these are the basic ingredients of a traveller. I have friends who have been happy in the confines or I must say luxury of their houses. however, my wife has been an inspiration and she has been a rover herself….we travelled 17 different places during our first year or marriage - does it speak a lot about us…..or does it !! Well she got pregnant [unplanned :-)] and so last 2 years we had to cut down on our travel….but with our baby growing, we have started again………………watch out !!
“Like all great travellers, I have seen more than I remember; and I remember more than I have seen”………..
I might not be able to write blogs on every place I have visited. A lot of my future blogs would definitely have references / comparisons to places I have visited earlier.
come along for a journey where we will go about sharing our experiences on the way to discovering India…be my guest….
